Planning the 'I Said Yes' Halloween Mixer at The Mezz

When Wednesday went Networking

Back in August, the crew from I Said Yes hit us up with a simple ask:

“Can you plan our October networking event… and just go wild with it?”

Say less.

They wanted Halloween vibes, but not your average haunted house or cutesy pumpkin patch aesthetic. No gore. No cartoony ghosts. Just something bold, edgy, and unexpected.

Enter Wednesday Adams

Once we found out the venue was The Mezz, we knew exactly where we were headed. Dramatic space, downtown vibes, moody lighting? This called for a theme with elegance and a little bite. We decided Wednesday Addams was the perfect muse.

But in true Ribbon and Rogue fashion, we didn’t want to go full black (sorry, Wednesday). We built a color palette around inky black, deep purple, and silver. Spooky, yes, but luxe and atmospheric. Think eerie elegance and not a graveyard.

Wedding Linens that slay

The Mezz is a stunner, but with a smaller guest list, we needed to make the space feel full and intentional. So we created a caterpillar-style layout with long, winding round tables that made the room feel immersive and grounded.

At Over the Top Linens, we fell hard for:

  • Velvet black + purple bases

  • Gatsby purple accents

  • A black mesh overlay that gave major spiderweb energy

Linens are underrated, y’all. Want to go bold without blowing the floral budget? Upgrade your linens.

eats drinks and dramatic bites

TableTop Catering came through with a dark-and-delicious seasonal menu:

  • Squid ink mac & cheese

  • Pumpkin ravioli

  • Guacamole Deviled eggs

  • Steak kabobs, roasted fall veggies, and a stacked salad

And yes, the signature cocktails hit the theme:

  • Blood orange margaritas

  • Deep red sangria

For dessert, we served:

  • Gluten-free chocolate mousse cake with berry drizzle

  • Purple + black cupcakes from B’s Cupcakes that looked creepy and tasted dreamy

If Wednesday Addams had a LinkedIn profile, this would be her mixer.

This event was the perfect blend of hauntingly cool design, clever details, and vendor magic. Huge thanks to I Said Yes for letting us run wild. This is what happens when you trust your planners to go rogue.
